FIELD GUIDES / BLACKOUT / PROTOTYPE FIELD NOTES

THE LOOT IS YOURS.
IF YOU GET IT OUT.

What kind of heist is BLACKOUT?

BLACKOUT takes the heist into a top-down view of Sable City. You move a runner through the streets, crack vaults, collect loot and bring it to your getaway car. Rival runners and police pressure make the return journey part of the job.

It shares a central idea with the card mode: carrying a reward and securing it are different things. The controls and threats are different. The Job uses cards, a shared alarm and turn-by-turn decisions. BLACKOUT asks you to move, react and find a route out.

Follow the loot from vault to car

The prototype footage on the BLACKOUT mode page shows a runner entering Canal Market’s vault, cracking a lockbox and collecting $2K. That is a look at the vault interaction, not a claim that every heist pays the same amount.

Once you collect a haul, the getaway car matters. Banking secures the loot you have carried back. Remaining in the streets with an unbanked bag exposes that haul to the action around you, including the risk of arrest.

Plan the return before the next pickup

Use your car as a reference point as you move. Before chasing more cash, look at the route back, the patrols and the police cordon. An attractive pickup is only part of the decision if reaching it moves you farther from an exit.

Rival runners can disrupt that plan. The mode includes shoves, dropped cash and items found on the map. Being first to loot does not mean the return trip will stay clear. Watch the space around a vault as well as the vault itself.

Characters change your look

BLACKOUT’s runners are cosmetic rather than purchases of stronger character stats. The mode’s preview focuses on movement, timing, map pickups and banking. We will publish more detailed tactics as the game’s rules and release build settle.
